Living in Southern California has typically been a warm experience, however we've had this absolutely gorgeous month of cool temps and heavy fog near the ocean. The coffee shops are bustling and there is a sense of "slow down" being whispered. My Midwest heart is happy even though my neighbors are missing their beloved sun. For the next few days of cool air I'll be making fresh hot chocolate made from the good stuff!

Ingredients

  • 4 squares Dark Chocolate 70%, we use Sirius Pure Icelandic
  • 1 Tbs Coconut Sugar (or brown sugar)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 C Milk of choice (If youโ€™re going dairy free, choose an unssweetened option, soy is the creamiest)

Instructions

  • Break chocolate into small pieces
  • In a saucepan, heat milk over medium heat
  • When milk starts to create small bubbles reduce heat to low and add chocolate, coconut sugar and vanilla, whisk until all ingredients have dissolved
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon to serve
